A simple tortilla recipe
Ingredients
- 300 grams flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 50 grams oil
- 200 ml hot water (not boiling, hot water from the tap should be enough)
Steps
- Mix 300 grams flour, 1 tsp baking powder and 1/2 tsp salt together in a bowl.
- Mix in oil and hot water. If the dough is too shaggy, add in a little more water to let it come together.
- Knead dough a little bit to bring it together then divide into 8 pieces and shape into balls and let rest for 30 min.
- Preheat a cast iron skillet with oil.
- To flatten the dough, place dough between two lightly oiled pieces of parchment paper. Use a pie pan to press down. Transfer directly to hot skillet. Or use a tortilla press if you are lucky enough to have one.
- Cook for 30 seconds to a minute on each side.
